"Birthday Parties!"

Last weekend was a birthday filled weekend!  We had one birthday party on Saturday and then my nephew's birthday party on Sunday!  With Easter and then all the birthday parties, Abigail has become quite addicted to sugar!  To be more specific, it's cake and cookies that she loves and requests!  One day this week, she had several melt downs because I would not give her any cookies!  So, when James got home from work she was trying to trick James into taking her to see "Pa Pa" because he'll give her cookies and M & M's!  Well, that didn't work because we were trying to get dinner ready!  So, while we were eating dinner, Abigail started singing "Happy Birthday," with high hopes that she would get some cake!  Her little tricks did not work on Mommy or Daddy!  She's a sneaky little thing, and way too smart for her own good!  So, I have been on a mission to find sweet treats for little ones that don't contain a ton of sugar!  I didn't realize how difficult it would be to find special snack treats with low sugar content!  The best I could come up with were plain animal crackers, which contain 7 grams of sugar!  So, if any of you fellow bloggers have any suggestions let me know!  I guess 7 grams of sugar is better than 20 plus grams of sugar that are in fruit snacks, huh?
Don't worry none of this candy came home with us!  We let the big kids take it home!

"Lions, Tigers, & Bears Oh My...."

Last week, my sister & I decided to take our kids to the ZOO!  This was Abigail's 1st time to go to the zoo!  I was nervous about taking Abigail somewhere like the zoo without James because Abigail won't stay in the stroller long at all!  My sister is expecting another baby in July, so she had the double stroller handy and ready to go!  Thankfully, Abigail tolerated the stroller a little better since she was riding with her cousin Gannon!  Abigail loved looking at all the animals, but didn't want to get to close!  The zoo has a children's area where they have a petting zoo as well as a playground!  Abigail walked around in the petting zoo, but would not pet the goats!  She loved getting some time out of the stroller to play on the playground!  I wanted to take the train ride around the zoo, but we ran out of time this trip!  We plan to make more trips to the zoo, so hopefully I'll get better pictures next time!

Can you tell it's WAY past their nap time?

Notice how far away Abigail is standing from the goats!

She's on the run in this picture because the goat got a little too close for comfort!

"Easter 2009"

Last week was a long & busy week for the Fehrle family!  The week started off with someone running a stop sign and plowing through our garage door pushing my parked car in the garage, out the garage wall into our backyard!  So, the first part of the week was spent dealing with the insurance company and getting estimates for the damage done to my home & vehicle!  Then, James got sick with strep throat!  So, he was laid up on the couch for a few days!  I spent two days cleaning the house because we were having people over Thurs. night & Friday morning!  I have to break up my days cleaning because Abigail is afraid of the vacuum cleaner, so I have to wait until she's sleeping to vacuum & mop!  This is why I have a maid come once a month!
Thurs. night, we hosted our smallgroup social night at our home & we all had a wonderful time!  I was so happy to see that the children felt at home and all played so well together!  Then, on Friday morning we had our playgroup over for an Easter Egg hunt!  The playgroup has been together since they were babies & now they're toddlers!  We hid the eggs in the front yard for better pictures!  James & I were very impressed by how well Abigail did hunting the Easter eggs & putting them in her basket!  We let her enjoy some of the cupcakes I bought for the party & she had icing all over her face!  We went to our church's Good Friday service Friday night!  It was a wonderful night of worship & reflecting on the real meaning of Easter!
Easter Sunday morning started out with an Easter egg hunt at Grandma & Grandpa's house!  Then, we were off to the Easter Sunday service at our church!  The afternoon was spent at Mimi & Honey's house where we ate lunch & had yet another Easter egg hunt!  The day started off rainy, but by the afternoon the sun had come out!  It was a beautiful day!  Abigail has eaten way too much sugar the last few days, now she detoxing!  All of the candy was either thrown away or sent with Daddy to work today, so it's no longer in the house!
I'm so thankful for the cross and for the gift of my Salvation!  I can't wait for the day that Abigail really understands what Easter is all about!

"Blue Bonnets!"

Earlier this week, Abigail & I went to Creekside Park with the play group to get some blue bonnet pictures!  Well, the blue bonnets were few & far between and Abigail would not sit still for me to take a picture!  Today after church, we spent the afternoon at Grandma & Grandpa's farm and got some much better blue bonnet pictures!  You can't live in Texas and not have blue bonnet pictures, it's just a given!!
Abigail had her follow-up doctor's appointment with her Cardiologist on Tues.!  Abigail was such a trooper!  She shocked us all by cooperating with getting weighed & getting her blood pressure checked, which NEVER happens!  Then, she laid perfectly still while they did the Echocardiogram, so Abigail did not have to be sedated!  James & I were so proud of our brave little girl!  The doctor said her heart looks great & that the artery is completely closed!  Abigail will always have what is considered an "innocent murmur," but is no big deal!  Praise God!!!
Look at that cute dress!

Now, this is a good blue bonnet pic!
