"Great Wolfe Lodge"

I can't believe that I'm just now getting around to blogging about our weekend trip to The Great Wolfe Lodge in Grapevine, Texas! The Great Wolfe Lodge is an indoor water park!  A few weeks ago we took our first little weekend vacation as a family!  We've only gone out of town on two other occasions since Abigail was born, once to my family's ranch & the other time was to Waco for my younger brother's graduation from Baylor!  James & I had been talking about going on a little trip & some friends from church mentioned The Great Wolf Lodge!  However, the key was finding a free weekend where we didn't have anything on the calendar!  So, the first free weekend we had was September 11th!

We weren't sure what to expect, but we were very impressed!  It really is an awesome place for kids!  Abigail loved playing in the water!  I didn't get very many pictures because I was worried about getting my camera wet!  I bought a water proof camera, but of course none of the pictures turned out!  Abigail was too little to go down some of the slides, but there was plenty of other things she could do!  There was a lazy river, which you could go down on tubes!  There was also a wave pool, which you could use tubes or just ride the waves!  There was also a hot tub, which Abigail liked because the water was a little chilly!  Abigail would wake up in the morning and say, "swim suit on!"  She loved playing in the water & going down the water slides! We didn't get to spend any time in the outside water park because it rained all weekend long! We tried to go into the town of Grapevine to shop in the little boutique shops, but it wasn't fun because it was raining!

I would strongly recommend The Great Wolfe Lodge to anyone wanting to take a little weekend trip!  You really only need to stay one night because even though check out is at 11 a.m., you still have access to the water park until 9 p.m. when it closes!  They have tables & chairs by the pool for you to hang out & have a place to take a break from the water!  You don't have to worry about carrying towels to the pool, they provide the towels!  The other thing about this place that we thought was awesome was that when you check in to the hotel they give you a wrist band, which had a computer chip in it!  We used the wrist band to open our door to the hotel room, so we didn't have to worry about keeping track off those silly plastic door keys that you get at any other hotel!  How cool is that?  We also used the wrist bands at the shops & food places throughout The Great Wolfe Lodge & they would charge it to our room!  The only negative was that everything is very expensive!  I would suggest bringing snacks & drinks for your room!  A bottle of water was over $2, pretty crazy!  I saw a lot of people in the lobby who were smart and brought their own snacks, breakfast food, etc.!  In addition to the water park, there are plenty of other indoor activities to keep the kids entertained when they need a break from the water or after the water park closes!  We would go back for sure!
This clock tower was a little singing show!  The trees & animals sang, it was cute!

Every night there was a story time in the lobby before bed time with the mascot, which is a wolfe!

Abigail loved the play house!

This was a perfect spot for a picture!

"Labor Day at the Farm!"

I know this post is a little late, but better late than never right?  On Labor Day, we went to the farm and had some friends join us for the day!  Our good friends Julian & Jennifer and their two little boys came to see the farm!  Tristan is the same age as Abigail and it's so cute to watch the two of them interact!  They got to see the cows & ride in the mule!  Of course, James had to make sure Tristan got to ride in one of the tractors as well!  We even had a picnic lunch to top off all the fun!  Jennifer & I spent most of the time chatting while the boys & Abigail rode on the mule & tractors!  Their 4 month old son Aiden even took a nap in a little travel bed on the patio table!  Jennifer & I took the opportunity to to take a ride on the mule while we could, so I was able to show Jennifer around the farm!  We all had lots of fun despite the fact that it was still pretty hot outside!  Good times with good friends!!

"Gymnastics!"

I have been so bad about updating my blog lately!  I have also been bad about taking pictures of Abigail!  Here are some pics from her 1st day of Gymnastics at Flips this fall!  Abigail participated in gymnastics over the summer, but I didn't take any pictures!  So, I was sure to get some pics on her 1st day this time around!  Flips has a Diaper Daredevil class where the parents participate with the child!  Abigail loves it!!  She especially loves jumping on the trampoline!  Abigail's friend Tristan is in the class with her!  I debated not putting Abigail in gymnastics again because I didn't want her to be in too much, plus I really didn't want to have to participate again!  However, Abigail loves gymnastics so much, so I signed her up again!  I figure these younger years are when kids are just getting a feel for what they like & don't like to do, so it's not hurting anything!  Plus, all of these activities get us out of the house & Abigail thrives on being around people and doing things!  I promise I'm not one of those moms who has to have my child in EVERYTHING!  I will have Abigail choose one thing to participate in by the time she's in school whether it's dance, gymnastics, swimming, sports, or music!
