"Thomas the Train!!"

Yesterday was James's 30th Birthday!  I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and he's also an amazing father to Abigail!  We began celebrating James's birthday on Thursday night by going to Landry's with his parents!  I made a homemade maple pumpkin cheesecake for his birthday!  The birthday boy decided to spend his birthday taking Abigail to see Thomas the Train in Rusk, Texas!
The Texas State Railroad offers several different types of fun train rides for children!  I heard about it through friends and found out about Thomas the Train coming to town!  For those of you that don't know, James started watching Thomas the Train after we got married!  He would watch the show while I got ready for church!  After we had Abigail, James introduced Thomas the Train to Abigail!  Abigail loves watching Thomas the Train & reading the books!  I don't know who was more excited about going to see Thomas the Train, James or Abigail!
Abigail was so excited about seeing Thomas the Train in person!  She ran up to the train, it was so cute!  Abigail loved riding on the train!  She also had lots of fun enjoying all the other activities they had for children!  Abigail had such a good time that she was asleep before we pulled out of the parking lot!  We will have to take her back again sometime soon!
Then last night, James & I enjoyed a date night alone while some good friends of ours babysat Abigail for us!  We decided to go to Amerigo's because James had never been and I hadn't been in a few years!  We had a great time!  I think James had a fabulous 30th birthday and a birthday he won't forget!

"Serve Our City!!"

Last Sunday, we participated in Woodlands Point Community Church's "Serve our City!"  Woodlands Point served a single foster mom, served a single mom with 11 kids, ministered to youth in a juvenile detention facility, organized the pregnancy assistant center's thrift shop, conducted food drive for the homeless, & served the elderly in our community!  Our community group served the elderly in our community by helping them out with some yard work!  I love our community group and it was an awesome opportunity for us to serve our community together!  The people we met were so appreciative!  I loved seeing the smile on their faces after all the work was done!  "Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you!""  John 20:21
Another reason why James & I love our church is that we are reminded, we are called to do much more than just go to church on Sundays!  We are called to worship Christ, live in community, get equipped for ministry, & live on mission!  We live in a broken world!  There are people hurting & in need all around us!
Last week, I was reminded why I was called into the social work profession.  I have always loved helping people and helping others help themselves.  However, the liberal side of the social work profession has turned me off.  I discovered my passion for the elderly during college when I was volunteering at a nursing home in Waco.  I am praying about how God can use my social work knowledge & skills.
I look forward to continuing to serve the elderly in our community.  I am excited to see how the Lord continues to use Woodlands Point Community Church to serve our community!
Disclaimer:  I am not a good photographer & due to rainy weather only got a few pics of the group!

"Playing in the Rain!!"

It seems like the few pictures I have taken of Abigail lately are of her on the move!  I have a hard time getting her to stop & pose for the camera these days!  Abigail continues to be a ball of energy!
Yesterday, I took her to see Papa & Grandma!  I decided it would be fun to take some pictures of Abigail in her rain coat & rain boots playing in the rain!  There was only a light mist of rain, but there were plenty of rain puddles for Abigail to splash around in the water!  I had bought the rain boots a while ago, but the rain coat was Abigail's cousin Kayla's when she was toddler!  Abigail had so much fun playing in the rain & she loves to be outside!  She also enjoyed getting to see Daddy at work!
The background doesn't make for really good pictures, but oh well!  I don't know how to crop the pictures on the computer, so what you see is what you get!  I wish I was a better photographer, but that's not one of my gifts!
I can't believe how much Abigail has changed and grown up in just 2 years!  Abigail doesn't have that "baby face look" anymore, now she looks more like a "little girl!"  I guess it's safe to say that I have the "baby bug!"  I love our little family of 3 and wonder how much it will change when we do decide to add to our family!

Abigail finally looked at the camera!
