Santa Pics

The last several weeks have been super busy, so I will be updating the blog when time allows. The Christmas festivities began with a visit to see Santa. Abigail told him she wanted an American Girl doll this year.

Thanksgiving 2011

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving despite dealing with one illness after another. It started with James getting a sinus infection, then both James & Abigail got the hand, foot, & mouth disease, then Abigail came down with a double ear infection, & then James went to the emergency room for an infection in his manhood area. I forgot to mention while all this was going on, James spent two nights away from home doing a sleep study. So, needless to say I was more than ready for the Thanksgiving break to be over because I desperately needed to get back into my regular routine. It was getting a little bit depressing!

Our Thanksgiving festivities began on Wednesday night, we went to my Grandmother's house for dinner. Thanksgiving day we watched some of the Macy's parade on t.v., but Abigail got bored rather quickly. We went to my parent's house for lunch with my family. Then my sister who's a photographer took our family pictures. We went by James's parents house to visit with them for a little bit. We ate dinner with James's parents on Friday night. I love Thanksgiving because it's a time to reflect on all we have to be thankful for in our lives. I also love getting together with my family. Even though we all live in the Woodlands, we don't see each other as often I would like.

Thanksgiving Feast @ Sonkids 2011

Last week, Abigail's preschool had their annual Thanksgiving Feast. I know I've said this before on my blog, but I LOVE Abigail's preschool. I love the program, the teachers, the staff, the fact that I know my child is being prayed over each day she walks in the classroom, and I could keep going on and on. The Thanksgiving Feast is one of my favorite things that Sonkids does each year. I didn't know what to expect last year because it was our first year. The gym is all set with tables on the ground for the children to sit down & have lunch together. Each classroom decorates their tables with centerpieces & place mats made by the children. I was excited to see what Abigail made this year. Each class is responsible for the food for the children in the class. The staff all bring food & share with the parents. It's a time for the school to come together & break bread together. This year, after I helped clean up the mess I took Abigail home from school early. Last year I didn't take her home & when I went to pick her up she was the only one left in her class. Even though she was only there for an hour or so by herself with her teachers, I still felt terrible. So, this year Abigail got to leave school early & we went to visit Mimi & Honey since Mimi was so kind to watch Jacob while I was at the Thanksgiving feast.

Abigail listed a few of the things she's thankful on the turkey's feathers.

The tables all set waiting for the children.

Cute centerpiece that Abigail's class made. What a cute idea using their handprints as feathers.

6 Months Old

I can't believe that my baby boy is 6 months old! Time needs to slow down! Jacob is growing up too fast, it makes me so sad! I'm trying to soak up every minute of my time with this baby while he's still a baby. I love this baby boy so much. His smiles melt my heart & he's got his Mommy wrapped around his little finger.

What is Jacob doing:
-sitting up unassisted
-rolling all over the place
-scooting backwards
-getting on all 4's (he'll be crawling soon & I'm not quite ready for that yet)
-LOVES his baby food
-LOVES bath times

Abigail's Turkey Tango

Last week at Boni's, Abigail danced her "Turkey Tango" dance. Abigail did such a good job. They had two dances, the first one was a tap dance to the "Turkey Tango," & the second dance was a ballet dance where they were also singing (yelling) "Happy Thanksgiving." Abigail LOVES to dance & perform for people. She reminds me so much of my niece Kayla when she was Abigail's age. Here's the dance in pictures since I've been unsuccessful in the past posting videos. I'll post the videos on facebook for all to enjoy.

Notice the height difference, LOL.

Jacob's Baby Dedication 2011

Last Sunday was the baby dedication at our church. Our church has baby dedication twice a year so it's a little more personal than having a large number of people on stage. Although, our church is growing so fast & has lots of babies & children that we still have a full stage each time. Baby dedication is a special time to publicly dedicate our child to God & promise to instruct him in HIS ways. Jacob is such a precious gift from God. He's the cutest little baby boy & his smiles just melt your heart. It was such an honor to have our pastor & friend introduce our family & pray with us as we dedicated our son to the Lord. It was very special to me that we weren't just "another" family on stage, but the pastor & the children's ministry staff actually knew who we were & knew our names other than just reading them off a card. We invited our family to church to witness the dedication. So, Abigail had her cousins Gannon & Colton in her class. She thought that was so funny. Abigail also thought that the Bible Jacob received was for her & she commented that she now has two of the same Bibles. Silly girl! Abigail came on stage with us & she stood there so sweetly just holding the Bible.

Starting Solids

A few weeks ago, we introduced Jacob to solid food. I was going to wait until he was 6 months old to start solids, but he was ready. He's still content without the baby food, but I was secretly hoping that the solids would help him sleep better at night. That was wishful thinking on my part. Oh well! Jacob LOVED the rice cereal. I was surprised by how much he actually swallowed instead of spitting it right back out. He even tried to grab the spoon away from Daddy to feed himself. Little stinker! Abigail helped feed him too. She's such a good big sister. So far he's tried most of the fruits & squash. Other than bananas, he's loving this food thing. Thankfully he hasn't had any allergic reactions to any of the foods we've tried. Praise God!
